A Woman Can
HetaliaxReader
Headcanon warning: The headcanon I used is that the nations are capable of changing their genders if they want too or are in the mood too. Like, France can turn into a girl, and Hungary can turn into a boy. But they have certain genders that they feel more comfortable in, and tend to stay in that gender./

A little known fact about World Meetings that took place before the modern feminist movement - that began in the 19th and early 20th centuries - was that they didn't allow women into the room. Or at least, they didn't allow the countries who identified as being girls to be in their female forms in the meetings.

Well, they did allow countries to stay in their female forms during the meetings, but they were expected to either serve the men drinks and snacks, or just sit there, look pretty, and be quiet while the men discussed their problems like the rational, intelligent beings that they were.

Yeah, right. (Name) thought bitterly, watching with a bored expression as the meeting room erupted into chaos within five minutes of beginning. The (nationality) woman sighed and momentarily closed her eyes in irritation. She was the only girl in the room - the other nations that had originally been female had taken on their male forms for that days meeting. She was the only one who chose not too. Hungary was one of those females who disliked her male form, but understood that being a boy was the only way to get any respect from the other countries - even if she was a girl in the first place.

(Name), however, refused to give up her femininity for being a male. Even if it caused the other countries to look down on her for being a girl, she stuck to her instincts. (Country) was the only nation in the world (possibly) that at that moment in history, was a mostly matriarchal society. The reason being her boss was a very feminist leader, and had basically turned the entire country upside down since she had become the leader. Not that (Name) or any of her human female friends were complaining.

The men of her country? They were treated as equals. After all, if they weren't allowed to do the things that women were allowed to do, then she was not really any better than the other countries, was she? But it was mostly women running the country, so she was known as a matriarchal society.

(Name) opened one eye and watched in amusement as Britain began to choke America, and was sidetracked in his assault by France mentioning something about British food, which led to Britain letting go of America and punching France in the face, which then led to a three-way fight between America, France, and Britain. Do they ever shut up? (Name) wondered to herself. Not that she protested too much of the idea of France getting pummelled. No, in fact, she had nearly punched him the face just a few seconds before he had mentioned Britain's food. France had made a rather perverted comment - what other kind of comment did he make? - on what she was wearing to the meeting.

(Name) was dressed, not in a dress like most would expect a female to wear, but trousers. She wore black ankle-length trousers, and a pair of brown boots that Britain would have described as "Pirate boots". Over this, she wore a white silk-like shirt, with puffy sleeves that tucked into the pair of thick brown leather gloves she wore, and the hemline of her shirt was tucked into the waistband of her pants. Over her shirt she wore a gold-brown coloured vest that was buttoned low, and due to the deep plunge of her shirt underneath it showed off some cleavage. Not that she actually cared. Wrapped around her waist was a silky white scarf, and over this was a dark brown buckled belt. Hung from the brown belt was a sword scabbard, which of course held a sword. A thin sword with an elaborate hilt that fitted her gloved grip perfectly. Hanging from her neck was a necklace with a green stone hanging on a loose silver chain. Her hair was long and wind-swept, hanging over her shoulders in a rather ruffled manner.

If this goes on for any longer, I'll snap. She thought in annoyance, casually brushing her hand over the hilt of her sword. The sword had served her well in many wars, many of which she had fought with and against most of the people in the room. (Name) had shed blood, yes, she wasn't ashamed to admit it either. She had never wept, not even once, over the loss of her enemies soldiers, but had cried rivers over the loss of her own more times than she could count.

"(Name)!"

The country in question lazily looked up, and looked through half-lidded eyes at Hungary. Her female friend had turned male, and (Name) would be lying if she said she hadn't found Hungary's male form attractive. But she wasn't attracted to either him or the female form of Hungary. It was merely an observation. "Hello, Daniel." She said calmly, resting her cheek against her fist, while her elbow rested against the arm of her chair. "Having fun without the burden of breasts?"

Daniel scowled at his/her friend. "Don't act like that, (Name)." He/she said, taking a seat next to (Name). "You know I hate this form."

"Then why do you insist on taking it every meeting?" (Name) demanded, lifting her head off her fist and glaring at Daniel.

"Because not everyone can be like you and think that females can be strong." Daniel replied, rolling his/her eyes. "Face it, (Name) - the only way you'll get acceptance, in this room at least, is if you take your male form. I've never seen it, actually."

"Rubbish. There are several people here with female rulers, and have had female heroes in their past. And you!" (Name) shot Daniel another irritated look. "You've fought in your female form against Prussia, and won! And yet these men don't believe that women can be strong! Why can't they just accept that females are just as good as males?"

"Not better?" Daniel asked, rather cheekily, grinning.

"No." (Name) rolled her eyes. "If I say that females are better, then I wouldn't be any better than any of these chauvinists." She lifted her chin and glared at the men in the room, who had suddenly all seemed to go very quiet. (Name) paid no attention to them, however, and continued speaking to Daniel as if they weren't even alive. "I just think that females should be equal to men, that's all."

Someone - neither (Name) or Daniel knew who - in the room let out a loud snort. (Name) raised an eyebrow. "Something wrong, gentlemen?" She asked, voice dripping with sarcasm on the last word.

"Nothing's wrong, (Country)." America said, as he got to his feet and grinned at her. "Except..."

"Except what, America?" (Name) asked.

"Except that your ideas are ridiculous." Britain stated bluntly.

Daniel coughed uncomfortably while (Name) straightened, eyes narrowing. A fire seemed to ignite in her eyes, though her icy tone was the exact opposite. "And what, my dear Kingdom, is so ridiculous about my country's ideas?" (Name) asked, using her nickname for Britain (United Kingdom = United Kingdom) almost like she was mocking him when she said it.

France chuckled, sounding slightly nervous. (Country) and France had never been very good allies, and they had fought several battles against each other. It was safe to say that their relationship was as strained as his and Britain's was - though (Country) never came after him for doing anything or saying anything he thought, as Britain did time and time again. France knew exactly how bad (Country)'s temper was. "Nothing, my dear (French name for country)."

"Doesn't sound like nothing." (Name) replied, switching her fiery gaze to France, who gulped and took a small step back. "Why don't all of you just tell me to my face what's so ridiculous about my country's ideas?

The countries all looked at each other then, while the Nations who identified as being female or at least had some respect for female kind wordlessly stepped back out of the crossfire, and instead watched (Name) with respect. Others who were afraid of (Name), such as France, did the same.

Then the countries all started - they all started speaking at once, but despite the fact that all together it sounded like complete nonsense, somehow (Name) managed to hear every single derogatory comment against womenkind. As each country grew louder, (Name)'s eyes grew wider, and her glare intensified with each statement thrown her way. It wasn't until someone made a comment on her Boss did she finally snap.

"ENOUGH!" (Name) roared, ripping her sword from its sheath and stabbing the blade into the ground. Her eyes were wild, and a fiery light seemed to have appeared in her pupils. Denmark, along with Norway and Sweden, visibly whitened - though it was more noticeable with Denmark than it was for the other two. The three former vikings had once tried to attack (Country), long, long ago, and to put it simply, after one encounter with (Name) none of them tried it ever again. It was the last time any of them had seen that light in her eyes, and none of them were too keen on seeing it again. Denmark still had the scars.

The countries in the room all grew silent then, watching as (Name) breathed heavily, knuckles turning white from her grip on her sword hilt. When she spoke again, her voice was dangerously soft. "I will not accept you insulting my boss. You may insult me all you wish, but you will keep my boss out of this. That woman found me at my lowest, and gave me hope after my last boss - a male, thank you very much - more or less destroyed my country from the inside. She raised me from the ashes of defeat, and she did the same for many women in my country, all of whom had lost hope of ever being seen as human beings, much less equals." (Name)'s eyes sparked again, and her hair seemed to be blowing around her with a wind that wasn't present. "And as for your remarks on my country's ideas, a woman," (Name) eyed them all disdainfully, before smirking. "Well, a woman..."

"A woman can preach," she pulled her sword from the ground. It left a deep groove in the floor.

"A woman can work," she pointed it at them all, her eyes unforgiving.

"A woman can fight," She did a series of fancy movements, before simply sliding her sword back into its scabbard.

"A woman can build," She looked up at the countries again, the fiery light in her pupils disappearing, causing Denmark to let out a sigh of relief he hadn't known he was holding.

"A woman can rule," She gave Britain a pointed look there, and he crossed his arms in defiance, getting the feeling that she was thinking about Queen Elizabeth the First.

"A woman can conquer," She gave France a smirk, and he grew cold then, knowing exactly the woman she was thinking about then.

"And a woman can destroy," (Name) headed for the door, the sound of her footsteps loud and unforgiving. She pushed the double doors open, and she turned back to face the shell-shocked male countries in the room.

"Just as much as a man can." (Name) finished, before slamming the doors shut behind her as she left the World Meeting ten minutes after it had begun.

Something I've stuck in my head literally FOR AGES, and am finally finishing now. Ouch Snow Party Dancing Elsa (Icon) Frozen - Elsa Icon  (I'm seriously lovin' the Elsa icons! Anna squee ) Honestly, I was a little scared to post this, 'cause, well... reasons. ^^;

So this is the beginning of a new series of unrelated one shots, either in AU's or not, featuring Reader-Chan showing different countries that women can be and are just as good as men are in... well, what she listed. And it won't just be the main countries (Allies, Axis, or those that show up in the show on a daily basis), it'll be others too!

Oneshots:
preach
work
fight
build
rule
conquer
destroy

They WILL be written as soon as it's possible for me!

So, yes, Reader-Chan in this story is a feminist. But as she stated, she doesn't think women are better than men, she just wants them to be equal. THAT is what feminism is. FLAMERS COME AT ME!

Constructive criticism, just plain comments, and flames are all welcome, because I want to hear what your thoughts are! I will be continuing even if no one reads this!

and also a few scenes in this story are going to be inspired by scenes from Hayao Miyazaki movies/manga, but it doesn't matter 'cause they'll make sense in the scene they're in!

IF YOU ARE GOING TO FAVE, I'D APPRECIATE IT IF YOU COULD COMMENT AS WELL.
